November 2011 As Seen on TV! Following
our appearances on BBC Breakfast and Market Kitchen's Big Adventure,
not to mention Jon's journey to the quarter finals of Britain's Best
Dish, the TV cameras have again been rolling at Bocaddon.
In November 2011 we featured on brand new Channel 4 lunchtime food
series Drop Down Menu. As well as a short film focussing on our veal production (scroll right to see our feature), Jon was invited into the studio where Michelin-starred
chef Angela Hartnett cooked a delicious stew with our veal. You can find the veal stew recipe online. August 2011 Changes at Bocaddon Farm Veal Following
the sudden and tragic death of Vicky's brother Rob, the dairy farmer at
Bocaddon, in July 2010, all dairy farming activity sadly ceased at the
family farm in 2011. In order to continue with our award-winning veal
business, we had to find another source of calves, and we are delighted
that experienced local farmer Darrin Hooper agreed to rear calves for
us, to our specifications, at his farm at nearby Tideford.
Our veal philosophy remains exactly the same as ever - unwanted
dairy bull calves reared in small groups, in the open air and with a
varied diet. Cornish calves, reared and slaughtered in Cornwall, and all
cut and prepared in our farm butchery at Bocaddon. With Darrin’s help
we will be sure to provide the same quality product and the same
personal service to new and existing customers across the UK. To read

entered ITV cookery competition Britain's Best Dish to showcase our Real Veal, and got all the
way through to the quarter finals! The judges were full of praise for
our beautiful meat as Jon made it through his heat, and he then won the
regional final, being judged the best main course in the South West and Wales. In
the quarter finals, Jon made it through to the best four main courses
in the UK. He couldn't quite take the veal all the way to the final,
but if the exposure convinces more of the public to give British veal a
go, it will have been an even bigger victory. September 2010Real Veal Double Gold Award! Bocaddon
Farm Veal entered two products into the Taste of the West Awards 2010,
and scooped GOLD for both of them! Our Veal Escalopes won Gold in 2008,
and followed this up with another top award this time round. And our
Calves Liver, which won not only Gold but also the accolade of best
fresh meat product overall in 2009, carried off maximum points again in
2010. All
of which goes to show that our Real Veal is still the best you can
get. With consistently top quality, and more awards than any other UK
veal producer, it's no wonder our veal is served at some of the UK's
very top restaurants. If you haven't tried it yet, why not give our
mail order service a go, or come and visit us at one of our upcoming
food events?
Valentine Warner selects Bocaddon Farm Veal for HarrodsIn
September our veal launched in the Food Hall of Harrods' prestigious
Knightsbridge store in London. Chef Valentine Warner was asked to help
select the best artisan foods from around the UK for Harrods Festival of British Foods, and he had no hesitation recommending our Real Veal. Valentine
Warner says “teaming up with Harrods buyers to pick out some of my
favourite producers and bring them to the Food Halls is a great
privilege and I hope shoppers will descend on these treats like
kingfishers on minnows. Each supplier we are working with has produced
something truly delicious and with great love and attention, so people
duly need to know about them.”
June 2010 Bocaddon Farm Veal named 'Young Food Hero 2010' We
were invited to the Good Housekeeping Food Awards last month, and were
shocked and thrilled to win the Young Food Hero 2010 award! Good
Housekeeping is the UK's best-selling quality women's magazine, and we
are absolutely delighted to feature in their July 2010 edition. Our
award was presented by Valentine Warner and Jane Asher at the
star-studded ceremony at Forbes House, London. You can see a little
video of the award being handed over on our facebook page May 2010 Real Food Festival round-up - rant alert! As
always, we had great fun at the Real Food Festival in London last
month. We dressed up as the Mad Hatter in our role as guest producer at
the Tregothnan/Rare Tea Co.'s tea party. We went on stage with Giorgio
Locatelli at the Real Food kitchen as the Italian chef cooked up some
of our lovely veal. And best of all, we were invited to RANT at the
Rude Health bandstand! Jon's chosen subject was 'why it is cruel NOT to
eat veal', and you can hear his rant online! December 2009 Best in the West - it's official! We've
always known that our Real Veal is something special, but now we can
boast that we produce the very best meat in the South West! We were
thrilled to be awarded the overall prize for the best uncured meat
product at the Taste of the West Awards 2009.
The ceremony was held at Heaslebury Mill in Somerset, where we enjoyed a
delicious meal of award-winning produce. Our award was presented by
Masterchef 2009 Matt Follas and Taste of the West Chief Executive John
Sheaves. This
award caps a fabulous year for Bocaddon Farm Veal - we also won a two
star gold at the Great Taste Awards and were finalists in the Waitrose
and Country Living Made in Britain Food Producer of the Year Award.
With more awards than any other UK veal producer, we're confident that
our veal really is the best you can get. | | | |
